ASTD-Lincoln, first quarter update

As the first quarter has come to an end I would like to pause for a moment and reflect on the status of some of our accomplishments.

I am pleased to announce the first committee of ASTD-Lincoln’s Knowledge Management Council has been formed and is off to a very enthusiastic start.  The purpose of this Council is to address concerns regarding a growing need of highly skilled workers to fill a variety of skilled labor positions within Lincoln, Nebraska and surrounding communities.  Please visit http://www.astdlincoln.org/KMC for more information and to stay up to date with current activities of the Knowledge Management Council.

We have been off to a roaring start with our first couple of learning events for the year.  In January Ranelle Maltas presented:  Flipping the training room and the tools to help you succeed! In March the video boot camps were a huge success.  They were so popular Jonathan Halls agreed to do a second one along with staying for a third day and presenting: 12 Critical Survival Skills for Trainers. We have a lot more exciting events in queue and coming your way for 2013.  For more information on future programs please visit our Calendar of Events page.

As a part of the business plan introduced to the membership in our January business meeting, one of our goals for 2013 is to find ways to get more involved with the community.  I am really excited to announce ASTD-Lincoln will be partnering with Doane College-Lincoln and will be providing additional education opportunities for students to participate in future internship programs and to attend some of our monthly Learning events each year.

It has been a pleasure serving as your president for this first quarter of 2013.  Our theme has been “Taking Action” and I’m happy to say we are off to a good start!
