June Event Highlights
First stop for the event, Art and Soul. If you have not visited Art and Soul, you should. Greeted by their warm friendly staff, wonderful aromas from freshly cooked, professionally prepared goodies and meals, one is immediately immersed in the moment upon entry.
With great food available, one may wonder what more is needed from a restaurant. Art and Soul offers so much more in cooking demonstrations, cooking classes, art classes for young and old, a full service bar, and unique pieces of art adorn the walls, available for sale.
Jim Slattery, his wife Marilyn, and their adult children created a venue that is welcoming, creative, inviting, and most important, a venue that is so much more than just another restaurant. Art and Soul is their life's passion and it shows. Jim and Marilyn shared their experience from conception to completion of their business model. The successes and trials to which one should avoid if taking the plunge to opening their own business that can be applied to all. Talent retention can be a challenge for all businesses. While certain areas within the business have experienced turnover, Jim and Marilyn’s, passion and willingness to learn better ways to retain their human resources, have been a catalyst for continued retention and success.
Art and Soul is a delightful place to visit, learn, imbibe, eat, cook, paint, relax, and enjoy!
Our second featured business was at Zipline Brewing Company.
Upon entering their part of the building, one is greeted with friendly staff, and an almost European feel that is warm, inviting, and airy. This minimalistic seating is set family style to allow patrons to more easily engage in conversation and enjoy the offerings and atmosphere. One can choose from a wide array of regular and seasonal brews. For those wanting a lighter non-alcoholic beverage, root beer on tap is readily available along with other offerings. Food can be ordered from Art and Soul via a pass-through window, making your visit complete.
Tom Wilmoth and his two partners Marcus Powers and James Gallentine conceived Zipline as a craft brewery that is accessible to all. His philosophy is set to embrace building a business that can grow, help their employees, and most of all support the community to the degree possible through giving back to worthy causes. Their shared vision is that building a sustainable business means investing in the personal service that yields long-term relationship and turns customers into friends.
